Editorial Board Policy
The Editorial Board operates independently of the Allergy News newsroom, responsible for all opinion content. Our goal is to present a range of perspectives on important issues. We write our own staff editorials, and we also accept submissions from the Allergy and Immunology community.
If you are interested in joining our team or have questions about our processes, please email us at info@allergynewstoday.com. No previous journalism experience is necessary.
Types of Content
Staff Editorials
Staff editorials represent the majority opinion of the Editorial Board. Published under the "Allergy News" byline, these pieces are the result of board discussions and a majority vote on a shared stance. While we aim for consensus, dissenting members have the option to publish a counter-opinion.
Op-Eds (Opinion Pieces)
Op-eds are individual opinion pieces from individuals affiliated with Allergy News. They do not reflect the views of the Editorial Board. We look for strong, well-supported arguments with a unique perspective on timely issues relevant to the Allergy and Immunology and broader medical community.
Submission Guidelines: Op-eds should be submitted to info@allergynewstoday.com and be between 650 and 850 words. They must be signed by one to three named individuals and should not be submitted under a pseudonym or by an organization. We will not publish op-eds that simply restate an organization's mission.
Columns
We feature a variety of columnists, many of whom are not Allergy News editors. Our columnists focus on a specific issue or theme, often exploring the impact of environmental factors, healthcare policies, and scientific advancements on patients with allergies and asthma. If you are an allergist-immunologist interested in writing a column, please contact us at info@allergynewstoday.com.
Letters to the Editor
We value your feedback on our published content. Letters to the Editor should be a direct and explicit response to an opinion piece or to our coverage of an issue in any section of our publication. We will not accept letters that address the subject matter of an article rather than our specific coverage of it.
Submission Guidelines: Letters should be submitted to info@allergynewstoday.com and be between 150 and 350 words. They must be signed by a named individual; we do not accept submissions from organizations or anonymous writers.
Corrections
Allergy News is committed to accuracy. If you find a factual error in an editorial piece or believe a viewpoint has been misrepresented, please contact info@allergynewstoday.com. We will publish a correction when the circumstances warrant one.
